Loch Coruisk

A beautiful loch in the heart of the Cuillin!

This was my first attempt to stitch a landscape entirely in silk shading. Although the actual size is only 3 x 4.5 inches, this in my opinion is way too large for a first attempt! After a few rows of 'sky' I gave up in despair and almost abandoned the technique, but then I decided to try a few smaller and simpler designs. With this practice behind me I was then able to complete 'Loch Coruisk' and go on to Sgurr nan Gillean and Pinnacle Ridge.

Loch Coruisk is worked entirely in Anchor Stranded cotton, using one strand and a No. 10 embroidery needle. As well as silk shading I also used French Knots to add texture to the foreground.
