Eliza Wright Mixed Media Herb Robert
A beautiful small flower bright pink in colour which begins flowering in Spring and carries on right into autumn. I particularly love the way the stems and leaves can turn to a rich red over the whole plant giving it a rather exotic appearance.
Because of its tangled habit, I again went for the "sandwich" technique, using hand-dyed silk for the background and a pale gold organza on top. The filling is wisps of merino and snips of thread, and I was more sparing with my 'glue' this time! The first layer of stitching I did on the sewing machine using various green threads and an embroidery foot. All the other stitches are by hand. Most are various forms of cross and running stitch with French knots and the occasional patch of satin stitch for the flowers.
